I'm Matt, a dedicated wildlife and nature photographer with a special affection for the often misunderstood inhabitants of our planet. At 37, nestled in the vibrant landscapes of southern Arizona, my camera and I embark on quests to reveal the hidden splendors of reptiles and other wildlife, showcasing their beauty in their natural domains as well as the occasional “studio” shoot.

My fascination with the natural world traces back to my childhood in Pennsylvania, where the dense forests, sprawling fields, and meandering streams served as my playground. These early explorations ignited a lifelong passion, laying the foundation for my future in photography. It was in a high school photography class where my journey took a pivotal turn. Learning to capture moments on film and develop them by hand, I found a way to merge my love for wildlife with the art of photography.

One of the most defining moments of my photography journey was my first intimate encounter with a wild rattlesnake. Lying on the ground, camera in hand, I felt an unparalleled connection to the raw beauty and inherent risk of capturing such a moment. It's experiences like these that fuel my drive to document the natural world.

Beyond the lens, I serve as the Division Chief of the Electromagnetic Warfare Division at the U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground. My technical background not only simplifies the complexities of photography but also encourages me to innovate, constantly experimenting with new methods to bring the intricacies of wildlife into focus.

My career and passion have taken me to remote corners of the globe, allowing me to adapt to the unpredictable and capture the essence of my subjects under diverse conditions. These experiences have sharpened my skills, enabling me to seize the perfect shot in any situation.
